Growing up in areas of Somerset grappling with deprivation and transformation has fuelled my determination to improve lives through my professional, political, and community work.

As a Unitary Councillor, I have a proven track record of uniting communities, campaigning effectively, and diligently advocating for my residents. Elected to Somerset Council after replacing two Conservative councillors with a combined experience of over 50 years, I was proud to top the vote.

My transition from community champion and parish councillor to unitary authority councillor was driven by my deep concern for mental health issues within our communities. Currently, I serve as the Deputy Chair of the Somerset Lib Dem Group at Somerset Council, the largest Liberal Democrat group in the country.  I am also the Acting Chair of the Adults and Health Scrutiny Committee, where I successfully integrated suicide prevention into our work program for regular scrutiny.

I am known for tackling complex and challenging casework, relentlessly pursuing the best outcomes for my residents. One notable achievement includes securing road safety improvements on the busy A371, a project previously deemed impossible.

Additionally, I have campaigned on behalf of a family facing hardship, trapped in poverty due to an uncaring Conservative government. This case garnered national media attention from newspapers, radio, and the BBC. It was even discussed within the Home Office. I helped organized a fundraising campaign for the family, which has been crucial to their daily living, and ultimately, my residents triumphed in their fight for justice.

Further, I have authored a paper on the Gender Pay Gap, which was presented to the equality panel at Somerset Council.
